Akera Benjamin

Benjamin has a degreee in software engineering from the University of Makerere. A member of the AI lab since his second year, Benji has played a key role in development of multiple projects that the lab runs. He spends his free time eating WFC with Jerry.

Tusubiira Jeremy

Kanyesigye Akbr

Akbr is one of the first mentees under the AIR Mentorship program. he is also a graduate from Makerere University. Learn more about him on his personal website

Sharifu Tusuubira

Sharifu Tusuubira is the first Executive Director of the Uganda Sickle Cell Rescue Foundation (USCRF). With a MSc Biomedical Lab Science from Makerere University, Sharifu has over 8 years’ experience. Sharifu is a 2017 Mandela Washington Fellow; a 2018 Telemachus Fellow and a recipient of the Clarke International University Most Outstanding community outreach award. Sharifu is currently a University Graduate Fellow at the University of Kansas in the department of Ecology and Evolutionary biology where is specializing to become a population genetist. In this program, Sharifu is developing skills of programming, python and deep learning. In the future, he wants to use these skills to build theoretical models for genetic diseases.

Ssendiwala Daniel

Daniel is a Computer Engineering graduate from the School of Engineering at Makerere University. He is also a graduate trainee at the Artificial Intelligence and Data Science Research Lab where he has developed passion and acquired skills in Python for Data Science and Machine Learning.
